Write Something Today….Anything!
September 5, 2011

In this era of instant findability and online content explosion, the written word still holds an important place in our hearts and minds. A good opinion piece in the local newspaper, a well crafted letter to the editor, a useful “free report” that you offer to prospects, really anything that you’ve written, even for yourself, goes a long way toward positioning you as a useful resource.
Thought Leadership
In the marketing and social media arenas, we talk a lot about establishing yourself as a thought leader within your industry. A major benefit of being a thought leader is that both customers and competitors will come to you for advice and business opportunities. However, the only way to get to that point is by voicing (or writing rather) your expertise.
Weigh the Cost
Countless article authors are using websites like EZineArticles.com to showcase their ideas and expertise and gather a following of potential customers and loyal readers. With the investment of just an hour or two a week, you can do the same.
Action Summary
Take out a sheet of paper or open a new document on your computer and brainstorm a few of the questions that your customers typically ask that you could answer in writing. Are there trends in your industry or community that you could comment on? Spend the next few minutes outlining your first article and then look at it again tomorrow and write up your draft. Commit to writing one important piece once a month and you’ll see your name in print twelve times per year! How many of your peers can say that?
